Rep. AOC and Senator Bernie Sanders Introduce an AI Bill

Something happened that I’ve been waiting for—and frankly, something that needed to happen much sooner.

Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) have introduced a proposal calling for a moratorium on AI data centers and development expansion until we can fully understand and regulate the risks.

Let me be very clear:

I fully support this effort.

From the very beginning of my campaign for Congress in Georgia’s 14th District, I have said that Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is not just another issue—it is the issue that could define the survival and future of humanity.

We are moving at breakneck speed toward creating systems that may soon surpass human intelligence.

This isn’t science fiction anymore.

We are talking about:

• Systems that can outthink humans 
• Systems that can replace millions of jobs overnight 
• Systems that could be weaponized in ways we cannot control 
• Systems that may act beyond human oversight 

And the truth is:

We are not ready. Not legally. Not ethically. Not structurally.

Slowing down is not anti-innovation.

It is responsible leadership.

A temporary pause gives us time to:

• Establish real safeguards and oversight 
• Create ethical frameworks for development 
• Protect workers and prepare economic transitions 
• Prevent irreversible mistakes 

Because once this technology crosses certain thresholds…

There is no undo button.

This isn’t just a global issue—it’s a local one.

The people of Northwest Georgia deserve:

• Job security in an AI-driven economy 
• Protection from corporate overreach and unchecked automation 
• A voice in how this technology shapes their lives 

I am running for Congress to represent you—not tech billionaires, not special interests, and not corporations racing each other to build something they themselves admit they don’t fully understand.

I stand with efforts like this proposed legislation because:

• We must put humanity before profit 
• We must govern technology before it governs us 
• We must protect people before we accelerate risk 

Even in a time of war, division, and threats to democracy…

This is the issue that could impact every human being on this planet—permanently.

When elected, I will fight for:

• A national and international framework for AI safety 
• Transparency and accountability in AI development 
• Economic protections for displaced workers 
• A system where the benefits of AI belong to the people—not just the wealthy few 

We are standing at a crossroads in human history.

One path leads to incredible progress and shared prosperity.

The other… leads somewhere we may not be able to come back from.

Now is the time to choose wisely.
