Rob “Rush” Ruszkowski is running for Congress to restore honesty, compassion, and courage to Georgia’s 14th Congressional District. As an independent candidate and a proud member of the Gaia Knights Movement, Rob is dedicated to inspiring others to stand up for democracy, justice, and a government that works for the people—not powerful interests.
His life has been shaped by hard work, caregiving, and lived experience—learning firsthand how quickly stability can disappear, and why government must serve the people with fairness, not let them feel ignored.
Born and raised in Plainview, New York, Rob is a second-generation American with Italian and Austrian-Hungarian, Polish, and Ukrainian heritage. His grandfather worked as a coal miner in West Virginia, where his father was raised. His father later worked as a bookkeeper for more than 40 years for the same company in New York, while his mother was a devoted homemaker. Growing up in a stable and loving family taught Rob the values of integrity, hard work, and service.
After earning a finance degree from Hofstra University, Rob launched a successful career in sales and building businesses. In 1991, he founded Hi-Tech Paging Inc. in the Atlanta area with just $5,000 in personal savings and a $5,000 gift from his father. Over the next several years, Rob grew the company into five locations serving Gwinnett County and beyond, generating more than $1 million in annual sales. The business was successful and later sold, giving Rob firsthand experience in building something from the ground up.
Like many Americans, Rob also understands how quickly things can change. Through later ventures and life changes, he lived through periods of financial strain and the hard work of rebuilding—experiences that deepened his understanding of what working families and small business owners face when systems don’t bend easily for real people.
Rob’s journey has also been shaped by deep personal responsibility. From 2005 through 2018, he helped care for his parents during their later years, an experience that strengthened his commitment to family, empathy, and community. Those years taught him that compassion isn’t just a word—it’s lived, and it matters in policy decisions.
In the political arena, Rob has consistently challenged powerful systems that leave everyday people behind. In 2007–2008, he served as a Virtual Outreach Coordinator for the presidential campaign of Dennis Kucinich, helping build grassroots online organizing that outperformed far larger and better-funded efforts. That experience reinforced Rob’s belief that real strength comes from peace, accountability, and putting people first.
Today, Rob brings together music, community involvement, and service through the Gaia Knights Movement and its music, helping people reconnect with democracy and one another. His work is rooted in a simple truth: real change doesn’t begin in party headquarters—it begins when people stand up for one another.
