The Issues That Matter – Rob Rush for Congress
A Campaign to Restore Democracy, Dignity, and Decency to Georgia’s 14th District
I’m Rob Rush. I’m not a career politician—I’m a small business owner, caregiver, father, and citizen who’s lived through financial hardship, family breakdown, and spiritual transformation. I’ve built businesses from scratch, cared for my dying parents, and struggled through a broken political system that no longer serves the people. That’s why I’m running—for every person who feels forgotten by Washington and betrayed by those who claim to serve them.
Below are the issues I believe are essential to restoring trust in our democracy, prosperity to our communities, and humanity to our government. These are not just policy points—they are core values I’ve lived.
1. Removing Greed and Corruption from Politics
Our democracy has been hijacked by billionaires, lobbyists, and corporations that spend unlimited dark money to buy elections and silence everyday Americans. I support:
- Overturning Citizens United, which gave corporations the right to spend unlimited amounts in elections, corrupting our system beyond recognition.
- Publicly funded federal campaigns to level the playing field for regular people.
- Strict term limits: 10 terms for U.S. Representatives, 5 terms for U.S. Senators, maximum of 30 years combined service, and forced retirement at age 70 to ensure fresh leadership.
- Ban on stock trading for all members of Congress, the President, and their spouses while in office—including blind trusts for assets and full adherence to insider trading laws.
- Outlawing corporate stock buybacks, a practice legalized under Reagan that has inflated CEO pay and gutted worker wages.
- Capping CEO pay to no more than 20 times the lowest-paid worker at their company.
- Banning executive compensation in stock, which ties corporate decisions to short-term greed over long-term public good.
2. Voting Reform and Access for All
Our elections are rigged—not by voter fraud, but by the barriers placed in front of third-party and independent candidates. I will fight to:
- Enact federal laws to end extreme state ballot access restrictions for independent and third-party candidates.
- Require Ranked Choice Voting for all federal elections, including both primaries and general elections.
- Implement automatic voter registration, open primaries, and universal mail-in ballots.
3. Serving the People, Not Performing for Cameras
Marjorie Taylor Greene has turned her seat into a spectacle. She’s failed to pass meaningful legislation, alienated colleagues, and neglected the needs of Georgia’s 14th District. I will:
- Show up to work, listen to my constituents, and lead with respect and humility.
- Prioritize infrastructure, broadband, clean water, and public health over partisan culture wars.
4. Protecting Workers and Ending Corporate Exploitation
I’ve been a business owner. I’ve also gone bankrupt. I’ve seen both sides of the economic coin. I will:
- Support a living wage and workplace democracy through unions and cooperatives.
- End tax breaks for companies that offshore jobs or exploit gig workers.
- Fund rural investment initiatives to create green jobs and local enterprise.
5. Restoring Ethics and Accountability
It’s time for ethics to matter again in Washington. I propose:
- A lifetime ban on former members of Congress becoming lobbyists.
- Federal anti-corruption enforcement to prosecute officials who abuse their positions.
- Mandatory ethics training and annual conflict-of-interest reviews for all federal officials.
6. Healthcare and Mental Health Access
As a caregiver for my parents, I saw firsthand how broken our healthcare system is. I support:
- Expanding Medicare eligibility and coverage to include mental health, dental, and vision.
- Rural healthcare investment for clinics, emergency care, and telehealth.
- Drug pricing reform to stop price gouging by Big Pharma.
7. Environmental Justice and Clean Energy
We must protect the Earth—not just for us, but for generations to come. I will:
- Ban corporate polluters from contaminating rural communities.
- Invest in clean energy jobs and solar infrastructure in the 14th District.
- Promote regenerative agriculture and conservation of Appalachian ecosystems.
8. Gun Safety and Public Peace
I support the Second Amendment—but also responsibility. I propose:
- Universal background checks
- Red flag laws to prevent mass shootings
- Closing loopholes that allow domestic abusers to access firearms
9. Education and Youth Opportunity
I believe every child deserves a path to succeed. I will:
- Invest in public education and raise teacher pay
- Support trade schools, apprenticeships, and debt-free college pathways
- Ban book bans and censorship of historical truth in schools
10. Veterans and Seniors Deserve Better
As someone who helped care for my father until his peaceful passing at age 93, I know how important elder dignity is. I support:
- Fully funded VA and rural veteran services
- Expanded Social Security and cost-of-living protections for seniors
- Caregiver tax credits and elder abuse prevention
My Promise to You
I’m running to take the money out of politics, the hate out of public service, and the greed out of government. I’ve lived a life of struggle, redemption, and personal accountability—and I will carry those lessons with me to Congress.
Together, we can build a government that works for the people—not the powerful.
Let’s rise up and reclaim our democracy.
